Abstract

Obesity is recognized as a high risk factor for colorectal cancer. As the ob gene product, leptin is one of important adipokines and it mainly derives from adipocytes. Leptin is thought as a pivotal link between obesity and colorectal cancer. It has been demonstrated to play a crucial role in colorectal carcinogenesis and cancer development. The progress made in the research on leptin is beneficial to colorectal diagnosis and therapy.
