Abstract

MicroRNAs (miRNA) are a class of ~22nucleotides noncoding RNAs, which participate in regulating gene expression at the posttranscriptional level. Posttranscriptional silencing of target genes by miRNA occurs either by targeting specific cleavage of mRNA or by targeting specific protein synthesis. There are significantly differential expressions of miRNAs between normal tissues and cancers, suggesting that miRNAs may participate in cancer development and progression. In this review,we will discuss the progress in the study on microRNA in cancer.
